Fishing is a passion
Morning by the water, a thermos of coffee, calm, the first bite – just a dream. But it all ends when you return with a keepnet that smells like a fish market on a hot afternoon. And then reality hits: car windows are rolled down, and as you reach the door, you hear, “Don‘t even think about bringing that inside!”, the net ends up on the balcony, and the otherwise friendly neighbors get a bit harsher in their language. A day that started off great is gradually losing its charm.
We tried everything – different sprays, vinegars, home remedies, even rubberized gear… Nothing really worked – and when it did, it was only temporary. And sometimes the result was worse than before.
By fishermen for fishermen
So we thought, after great experiences with our Detysin product, which proved itself on the beds of our four-legged friends, why not try it on fishing gear as well. We hoped it could tame that unpleasant, almost indestructible fish odor.
For those unfamiliar with it: Detysin is a product based on super alkaline ionized water. It sounds almost like sci-fi, but in reality, it is a very effective yet completely clean solution. No chemicals, no fragrances. It works by breaking down organic residues that are the source of odors. And it does so very quickly.
We had already tested that Detysin does not damage materials commonly found in households, so we went straight to treating all of our fishing gear. We sprayed it on everything: landing nets, keepnets, rod cases, jackets, gloves, chairs… The result surprised us quite a bit, as both the fish odor and mustiness disappeared – something we hadn‘t even expected. However, that was on items that had been sitting in the basement over the winter, so we moved to the water and tested Detysin on a freshly used and still wet keepnet that wasn’t rubber-coated. After a while, the fish odor completely vanished!
Tested by the water, approved at home
To make sure it wasn‘t just a fluke, we started giving the product to other fishermen and had them thoroughly test it. We collected feedback for almost a year. So, we can say that when used correctly – ideally on dry gear – odor removal is almost guaranteed.
It is fair to add that in two cases, there was reportedly a slight smell of fish from the nets after treatment. Even so, everyone confirmed that Detysin works extremely well. Some even started using it in their cars—with the same result. In addition to removing odors, its cleaning effect was also frequently praised. It loosened years of ingrained dirt and even traces of blood.
After extensive testing, we decided to share Detysin with other fishermen and named it after its first use: Clean Keepnet.
What Can Clean Keepnet Do in a Nutshell?

Usage
Product Usage: Thoroughly wet the entire surface to be treated and let it act for at least 60 seconds. You can then dry it. In case of heavy soiling, repeat the procedure. Remove larger deposits of dirt mechanically. Warning: DO NOT SPRAY THIS PRODUCT DIRECTLY ON ANIMALS! IT COULD COME INTO CONTACT WITH THEIR EYES OR MUCOUS MEMBRANES. Copper and aluminum surfaces may be damaged by prolonged exposure to the product. Therefore, dry or rinse them thoroughly with clean water 30 seconds after applying the product. Keep out of reach of children. In case of ingestion, drink 1–2 glasses of drinking water. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with clean water. If any discomfort occurs, seek medical advice.
Ingredients: ionized water > 10%, KOH 0.1–1%, ethanol 0.1–1%.
